General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC)
REGULATIONS
- On the 16th March 2016, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry introduced important changes to the Customs Clearance procedure as well as to the list of regulated products subject to conformity assessment. Decree of Minister of Trade and Industry No. (43) of the year 2016 list the products that can be imported only if they are produced in GOEIC registered factories. Factories, manufacturers or trademark owners of regulated products must now register with GOEIC to continue to export to Egypt.
GUIDELINES
- Submit the application form by the applicant
- Review of the applicant’s submitted documentation by the authorized certification body
- Shipment inspection by the appointed inspector
- Shipment testing by the accredited laboratory
- Issuance of the final certification decision by the authorized certification body

REGULATORY AGENCY
National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA)
REGULATIONS
- Telecom Regulations Law No. 10/2003 has stipulated the establishment NTRA as a national authority competent and responsible for the administration and regulation of the telecom sector, considering transparency, open competition, universal service and protection of user rights as general outlines for NTRA scope of work.
- Type Approval is a compulsory step applied when importing or manufacturing or assembly of any equipment having a communication element.
GUIDELINES
General type approval procedure:
- The applicant should submit complete CE or FCC compliance report*, data sheet, application form and user manual to NTRA.
Procedure for Chinese or India brands telecom equipment:
- For Chinese and India brands telecom equipment manufactured by non ISO 17025-accredited manufacturers should apply for Verification of Compliance (VoC) Certificate at one of the NTRA accredited Chinese / Indian test labs.
- After manufacturing process and before shipping any shipment, manufacturer must notify the accredited lab who issued the VoC in order to inspect the shipment and issue a pre-shipment Verification of Conformity (PVoC) certificate.
- PVoC must be submitted to NTRA before shipment arrival either by submitting the original hard copy or sending an email with the soft copy from the NTRA accredited lab to the NTRA directly.

- Cordless Telephone Set;

- Radio Trans/Receive equipment;
- Satellite Communication equipment.

Egyptian Organisation for Standardisation (EOS)
REGULATIONS
- On 19 June 2017, the Egyptian Minister for Trade and Industry issued Decision No. 912 regarding Compulsory Energy Efficiency Labeling of Certain Electrical Appliances and Lighting Modules.
- Manufacturers and importers of certain electrical appliances and lighting modules must mark the products with the energy efficiency label in accordance with the relevant standards.
GUIDELINES
- A local representative is required.

- Testing in EOS accredited lab.
- Issuance of energy label.
